Had to wait an hour to get in. Probably not a good idea to go on Sunday afternoon. Once inside, however , I found the shelves well-stocked, and no purchase limits on things like milk or eggs . The meat case was particularly full of product. They even had poo paper, at least I saw people with some in their cart . I did overhear that they are letting Instacart employees cut the line. I’m not sure how I feel about this.

I’d be okay with Instacarters cutting the line. They’re earning some living, after all.

I know. They’re just getting first dibs on everything. At least stocks are good. It would be different if the stores still looked the way they did three weeks ago.

I went into my fave grocer yesterday-- relieved to see that it looked pretty normal. Stocks on all the stuff short last week.

My wife went to the grocery while I was at Costco. She didn’t look beyond her list. She found most everything on the list except soup and everything bagels. Oh, the humanity....

We have had discussions in our house about TP usage and being frugal with it. I can say that I have noticed a reduction in the number of times I have to plunge the commode.

I like that people seem to be using the parking space lines to measure out ~6ft. They should paint some marker lines on those pallets as well for the same effect.

I would never on this earth go to costco on a normal Saturday or Sunday, unless it was like just before closing or to maybe get gas or the food court. But man weekend costco under these circumstances, no way in hell!

I think there might have been tape on the ground, but I don’t remember. The SD did get a bit less rigorous as we got nearer the store. People were getting anxious. They have pushed back the shelves to allow for plenty of room at the check out stand.

I normally go on a weekday morning. Probably should have waited until a weekday, but it was no big deal. I got a few crosswords done on my phone. Kept forgetting that my thumbprint doesn’t work with rubber gloves....

I ran a shit-ton of errands from Sat 3/14 to Tue 3/17 and haven’t been in a store since, except UPS to send a present out to a nephew for his bday. We have plenty of food here to survive on but the list of things we’d like to have to make the quarantine more enjoyable has grown large. I’ll probably venture out soon but I’m definitely doing it at a non-peak time and not even thinking about hitting Costco.

Back in normal times I would get there about 10 mins before opening on a Sunday. They’d open the gates early, at a time when churchfolk are busy, and it would be a breeze, in and out in 15 minutes.
Nowadays, either Monday or Friday, to avoid weekends and oldster days.

My mom lives in a smallish town kind of at the end of the supply chain. She says TP has been hard to get there, and one local store is limiting purchases to 4 rolls or something. If I visit her next month, I’ll go to a Costco when they open, to get her a mega pack.

No idea. I’m wearing a cheap mask that I got from the clinic when I went for an ear infection a month ago. I’m hoping my brother can send me some homemade ones soon. But there were all manner of masks evident, from cheapies like mine to fancy cloth masks with breathers to N95s to bandanas. A few wore gloves (I did), and I saw a few gloves dropped on the ground. Thanks, assholes. And also a fair number of people wearing no protective stuff.

I’m usually that guy with nothing at all. Couldn’t find a thing on Amazon, luckily there is ebay. I just bought a couple of bandanna /face cloth ones, some cloth traditional, and a box of 50 throw aways from the UK. Here is link below, not bad for $60 delivered. I don’t think any of them are N95 rated, but should be fine for the current directive by the CDC.

A month or two ago, I was reminded of why I don’t like Costco and don’t shop there.
The stupid membership thing, the a wful crowds, stupid-long checkout lines, the receipt-checking and prices that, aside from a couple of loss leaders and cheap hotdogs , are nothing special.
It’s the least enjoyable shopping experience you can have.

I saw a pair on my street. They were a couple feet in from the edge of the road so I have a feeling they fell out of someone’s pocket. I have a poo sc ooper that has spring loaded jaws. When I walk my dog I will on occasion pick up the errant poo some inconsiderate ass left where someone might step upon it. I treated those gloves like they were radioactive poo.

I went to Costco yesterday too, I’ve been self quarantined since February 22nd ( I got the virus early, I was checked out by my doc a few weeks ago and have a clean bill of health ) and we were low on quite a bit o f necessities. I was shock ed to see the parking lot half empty, the wait to get in was 20 minutes. I had two N95 masks so we wore ‘em (I use them when I cut cement board, tiling, etc) and wore latex gloves (also a staple) .
They have a list of out-of-stock items so you know what’s unavailable (I was surprised to see they were out of eggs). Plenty of TP if ya need it..
Everyone was doing their best to av oid others and when it was time to check out the wait was under five m inutes. All in all not a bad experience, and we should be good for another three or four weeks.

As someone who worked in a warehouse to get through college, I can likewise acknowledge and appreciate such beautiful order. That’s pretty damn nice; almost perfect. I spy one poking out a little and I bet someone stuck a foot on that one or something.

As someone who has had the virus, did the doc tell you anything about it? Can you get it again? I’m kind of hoping this is like the chicken pox where once you get it, you’re then immune to it. I know, probably wishful thinking.

They think you develop anti-bodies so you’re unlikely to get it again, but that’s more of hunch than anything. In general that’s what happens with viruses, however this thing is in a league of it’s own. I’m not taking any chances, once was more than enough.

Looks like folks there are doing a better job of distancing than here. The other day my wife went to Sam’s for a supply run. There was a line like that because they’re only letting a certain number of people in the store at one time. She was doing her part, keeping 6 ft back from the person in front of her. The guy behind her, unfortunately, not so much. Basically standing right next to her. Frustrating.

These days, I think it might be appropriate to ask the person to move away. I was at the grocery a week ago, lined up outside, and the store security guard came down the line spreading people apart. Folks need to work together, but some people are just clueless. My wife talked about the lack of SD inside the store. People were standing together looking at shelves, etc. It takes a village....

I get what you’re saying and am curious/hopeful to learn this info about COVID-19 as well. But as far as chicken pox goes, even if you’ve had it in the past you CAN still catch the virus and get a really bad case of shingles.

I went to Home Depot yesterday morning. Got there 15 min before the opened, and was maybe the 50th in line. It was encouraging since in 15 minutes the line would shrink by half or more as the store swallowed up its limit.
I was hoping I would be near the front of the line by the time the store was “full,
” and that maybe some of the early birds only needed an item or two and would leave.
Nope, I was 58/69, and decided to sit in the patio section for a minute before shopping since I earned it.
Was home by 9 :)

Check restaurants and bakeries in your area. Many of those businesses are selling their excess supplies, and some are even giving it away. You will pay a premium price, but you might find it.
